A positive working atmosphere improves motivation and team work. Therefore, Smarthouse creates an environment where being comfortable is daily business – through a combination of promoted communication and various benefits for the employees (at work as well as in private life).

So, what does this look like in practice? Here are some reasons why our working atmosphere is unique.

We communicate openly and directly

At personal level our team can be characterised by the willingness of both the management and all colleagues to always listen to each other‘s problems. A personal address on every hierarchical level as well as regular meetings facilitate a constant exchange between our employees either in their respective teams or between different project teams. Our internal messenger and blog enable a communication which is fast and typical for this sector.

We are placed in the city of Karlsruhe

Smarthouse is located in walking distance of the Europaplatz in Karlsruhe – which is the most important intersection of the tram lines in this city. The main station is only a few stations away. Therefore Smarthouse can be reached fast and easy, even without a car.

But this central location also brings along other advantages: The Kaiserstraße (main shopping street) is also just around the corner, so that errands can be made simply after work and one has many opportunities where he or she can spend lunch time.

We care for the well-being of our employees

Smarthouse also makes a point of offering a variety of wellness and leisure activities. Apart from a fresh fruit selection in the reception area our employees can enjoy sweet and savoury snacks at our kiosk for a small contribution.

In addition to that, we also have a cheap bakery service which delivers a variety of sandwiches and sweet pastry directly to our office.

Fresh coffee as well as tea or hot chocolate comes from our fully automatic coffee machine. Still and sparkling water is available for free for all employees.

Every two weeks a masseuse takes care of our body and soul – also in this case Smarthouse bears a large part of the costs.

We benefit from our parent company, the publishing house Axel Springer AG

Since we are a subsidiary of the Axel Springer AG, Europe´s biggest publishing house, we enjoy many benefits that arise from being member in a corporate group, like discounts for rented cars or consumer electronics, but also when it comes to private insurances. These discounts can be utilized by all employees.

We get along very well – even outside the office

Since our company keeps on growing and new colleagues constantly join our team, Smarthouse promotes regular common activities so that a team spirit can be established and new members are integrated easily.

That is why Smarthouse offers a monthly grant for every employee which the team can use for after-work events in order to get to know each other.

But also the company-wide team spirit is encouraged: Smarthouse invites the entire staff to get together in regular after-work parties. Further highlights include our summer barbecue or the Christmas party.

Numerous leisure activities are also organized by the employees themselves: Regular poker evenings take place as well as soccer or climbing.
